We Got Married! - Saturday, April 7, 2007

After months of stress and preparation, the big day finally came. Like most weddings, we had some unexpected surprises (such as the record-breaking low temperatures), but overall, the wedding was really great. At 3pm in Theresa's old backyard, we spoke our personal vows, exchanged rings, and were pronounced husband and wife. The rest of the day was a bit of a blur, especially for the bride. Also like most weddings, the bride and groom spent most of their time with their photographer. If you attended our wedding, we'd love to hear your perspective on the event. Please leave a comment on this post (click on the word COMMENTS below) and tell us about all the parts we missed. Since we won't get our professional photos for a while, we'd also love to receive yours via mail or email. We'll post them here! Thanks!

Great pics. Congrats to you both!
Now go enjoy what a non-watered down beer (you darn Americans and your 3% alcohol beer) tastes like!

This is Jane speaking :), sister of the groom, and proud new sister-in-law of the bride....
The wedding overall was a lot of fun and really lovely, even given the record-low temps (I really should have worn the thermopack like the other bridesmaids....). But two things stand out for me:
First, the baked goods! It was so much fun baking with Theresa and her sister, Laurice. I only helped out with the tarts, though. The tarts were such a hit! There weren't even any of the ganache ones left at the end of the reception for Theresa to try! (But trust me T, they were delicious!) And that cake! Do y'all see that picture of the cake?! It was incredible. Not only did it look too good to eat, but once you gave in and ate it -- amazing. I am going to need copies of all those recipes, please, and I really hope that we all get together (you too Kalynn!) and do some baking together again soon.
Second, I want to say that I was totally impressed by the groomsmen, Tyler, Dennis, and Marcelo. I feel like I haven't seen Marcelo much since he was like 10 years old. But the three of them are now these amazing, sweet, warm, funny guys and they all helped to make sure the wedding went off super smoothly. I enjoyed standing by their side during the ceremony (but thanks for not slapping me on the butt). It makes me really happy to know that my lil' brother and his wife have such wonderful friends in their lives.
That's all I have to say for now... but I may be back for more commenting soon! Hope you're having fun in Dublin!

The wedding was great. It was amazing actually. The best part for me was actually a moment that most people probably didn't notice. I'll walk you through it:
So all of the mothers had been walked down to their seets. Everyone else had taken their seets, all the grooms men and the brides maids were ready and faced the door where the bride was going to come out from when suddenly the "Here comes the bride" music began. Everyone stood up and two doors opened up and we all see Theresa. She looked amazing. At that moment I turned around to see the look on my boy Ray's face. He looked happy. He looked certain. That's when I knew that these two would truly be together and happy forever. That moment, that little moment, was my favorite moment of the wedding. Congratulations Ray and Theresa.

will there be more pictures of the tarts? especially the ones with the little bits of kiwi on top? (Is it wrong to become hungry after looking through wedding pictures?) What does it mean when the top Google advertisement (adjacent to a picture of a strawberry shortcake) relates to type 2 diabetes: Is Google trying to tell me something?
Will our little lucky bamboo turn into a bamboo forest?

Congratulations, you two! Everything was so perfect. I especially liked the slideshow at dinner.

Ray & Theresa, thanks for going out of your way to make all of us guests feel so welcome. You facilitated opportunities for us to get to know your families & friends. Thanks for all the time you spent creating such a warm family & friend-oriented wedding. We had a wonderful time! By the way, the chocolate bars were delicious. With love, Frank & Virginia Shu
